Shaun O’Connor is one of Australia’s leading talents in the creative innovation space. He has been recognised for his work on iconic brands including Volkswagen, Sydney Opera House, McDonald's, Tooheys, Virgin Australia, United Nations, Red Bull and Pedigree.
Recently Shaun’s work for the Sydney Opera House was awarded Australia’s first Cannes Gold Lion for mobile marketing, and another 10 Lions across digital and direct. This led to DDB Sydney being Australia's most awarded agency at Cannes 2016.
Coincidentally – in a world where ‘mobile first’ has become a familiar catchphrase – 11 years earlier, the first advertising campaign Shaun worked on was a mobile film festival, while at Saatchi & Saatchi New Zealand. ‘Rubbish Film Festival’ was also awarded at two gold lions at Cannes, in Promo and Media.
Shaun has held roles within some of the region's most recognised agencies including DDB Sydney, Saatchi & Saatchi New Zealand, Saatchi & Saatchi Australia, DDB New Zealand and TBWA Sydney.
His specialty and focus are on where creativity and technology intersect. Having an in-depth, practical knowledge of software development and design – along with a passion for ideas, gives Shaun a unique point of view and approach to problem-solving which is reflected in the contemporary, cutting-edge nature of his work.
As Creative Director Shaun provides the creative vision for the agency, building and orchestrating a multidisciplinary team of writers, art directors, designers, animators, and technologists tasked with creating innovative creative work built for modern media.
